Celebrating Leadership
Welcoming a New Chapter
After 28 years of life-transforming leadership, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Suzanne Conrad, who is retiring as Chief Executive Officer of Iowa Donor Network. Suzanne’s vision, compassion, and unwavering dedication have shaped who we are as an organization and strengthened our mission of working together to transform lives through the gift of organ and tissue donation. Her impact will continue to be felt for years to come through the lives she has touched and the legacy she leaves behind.
As we thank Suzanne for her incredible service, we also give a warm welcome to Phil Blumberg, our new CEO. We are excited to have Phil join the Iowa Donor Network family and look forward to working with him as we continue our incredible work of transforming lives.
It’s truly an honor to join IDN and be a part of the amazing, impactful work of organ donation.
I’ve already been deeply moved — attending an honor walk, comforting families at the Candlelight Tribute, meeting volunteers making comfort blankets, and seeing the remarkable work our team does every day. This work is both complex and deeply human, and it’s clear that everyone at IDN is dedicated to saving and healing lives.
IDN’s foundation is built on compassion, resilience, and a shared commitment to donors and their families. My focus is to listen, learn, and understand — to know the people, culture, and partnerships that make this organization so special.
Our mission — Working together to transform lives through the gift of organ and tissue donation — guides us as we adapt, innovate, and prepare for what’s next. I’m grateful to serve alongside such an inspiring team and to help carry forward our life-changing work.

This powerful story has captured national attention and sparked important conversations about the impact of donation.
This year, Iowa Donor Network proudly hosted the inaugural Camp Legacy, a special retreat for children and families of organ and tissue donors. Offered at no cost, the camp provided a space for solace, healing, and hope.
Throughout the day, we witnessed powerful transformations: tears turned into smiles, isolation into connection, and grief into resilience. Children learned coping skills, built lasting friendships, and discovered they are not alone in their journey. Adults found comfort and understanding among others who share similar experiences. Camp Legacy became a place where healing began and legacies were honored.
