Talent Acquisition and Retention Specialist

  • Position Overview:

    Responsible for overall recruitment process including talent sourcing, screening, interviewing and recommendation for selection to meet staffing needs. This position is also responsible for coordination of retention strategies including recognition, wellness, and mentor programs.

  • Job Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum one to three years of experience with talent acquisition. Minimum one year experience with applicant tracking systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience using social media for recruitment and advertising. Previous experience in recruitment of healthcare professionals desired.

    Essential Job Functions and Performance Expectations:

    1. Independently develop new and enhanced strategies to attract and engage top talent.
      1. Use sourcing and a variety of tools/techniques to identify passive candidates through online professional networks and associations, LinkedIn, traditional networking, and use of social media.
      2. Maintain understanding of latest trends around most effective sourcing strategies to find and engage active and passive candidates.
      3. Attend job fairs and recruitment events to build a strong network and candidate pipeline.
    2. Post all positions internally and externally in IDN’s applicant tracking system, on external job boards and various social recruiting sites.
    3. Review resumes and conduct phone screens
      1. Confidently make candidate recommendations to leaders for hiring consideration.
      2. Collaborate with support staff and hiring managers to review the job description and determine characteristics of the ideal candidate. Assist with scheduling interviews as needed.
    4. Create interview questions that clearly reflect the requirements for each position.
    5. Based on recommendation by hiring manager, create and make job offer, conduct welcome communication, and facilitate new employee orientation.
    6. Complete administrative functions including manage open/update/close positions, update candidate status in applicant tracking system, background check and reference process for candidates.
      1. Keep records of all materials used for recruitment including interview notes and related paperwork to share with leaders.
    7. Build and maintain excellent relationships with candidates and IDN team members we serve to provide a best-in-class experience during the recruitment and on-boarding process.
      1. Assist with conducting onboarding interviews of new and transfer employees, process all related forms and notices related to the same.
    8. Participate in annual review of all department job descriptions. Revise as needed.
    9. Lead/Facilitate the new hire and exit survey process. Identify and present trends and make recommendations for improvements in the overall employment experience.
    10. Develop and conduct ‘stay’ interviews with the goal of strengthening employee retention strategies.
    11. Conduct offboarding interviews with resigning or retiring employees, tracking reasons for terminations to inform future HR recruitment strategies. Process all related forms and notices related to same.
    12. Track and report statistics and other employment-related data on applicants, prospects, and employees to management.
    13. Implement and enhance recognition, appreciation, and mentorship programs across the organization.
    14. Utilize predictive index to set job targets to aid in the recruiting process.

    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

    1. Must receive required vaccines based on outlined schedules to protect our employees, healthcare personnel, donors, recipients, and families we may come into contact. (e.g. Influenza vaccine must be obtained annually by December 1st and COVID vaccine upon required timeline.)
    2. Must have a high level of customer service and ability to confidently communicate to a diverse audience and with all levels within an organization.
    3. Assure compliance with all federal and state regulations throughout the recruiting/hiring process.
    4. Requires travel between office locations and the ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends as needs arise.
    5. Lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 lbs.
    6. Possible mental and visual fatigue associated with detailed work.
    7. Express ideas verbally and convey detailed or important spoken information.
    8. Receive detailed information through oral and auditory communication.

    Skills and Abilities:

    1. Ability to provide excellent and timely customer service.
    2. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
    3. Maintain a current valid driver’s license and be insurable through IDN’s insurance.
    4. Skill and ability to effectively use computers and computer software including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Internet tools, and electronic mail.
    5. Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing when representing IDN; work well with others; take and give direction; demonstrate effective problem-solving skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
